Fries

  • In restructuring this website, I have decided fries fall are either site updates or ramblings. Have a nice day.

  • Got a napkin?

    Napkins are a thing now.

You know what that means? That now you can see something on a new section for this wonderful website.

    Hope you like it!

  • A Decorated Horizon

Today, I woke up thinking about how I have been building websites for multiple decades. This website alone is nearly pushing 20 years old.

It may be the fact that it’s Monday, but that thought kickstarted more thoughts around web development, creativity, websites, and free speech. Importantly, having my own website that I can experiment with has been such a refresher for me. It has allowed me to find a better place for my scattered thoughts and play with web technologies on my terms.

That being said, you’ll notice the horizon on the footer has a beautiful mountain range and some flora to keep the Hmmburger laptop company.

A mountain range with some flora surrounding the Hmmburger laptop.

Virgo season is now observable for those who like to observe the astrological shift on the observation page for our dedicated observers. Please take it in and do with it what you must.

With that dust devil of a website update, I hope you have a nice Monday and wonderful week.

  • A quick bite.

a tray of burger, fries, and a refreshing drink

    Thank you for checking in.

If you have been following along, first of all, thank you, secondly, we’re sorry for the silence.

We are currently on the precipice of a new chapter in this place. Everything has felt more surreal then the moment before now.

Yet, here we are, in a stasis of sorts. Away from the reality of the action but surrounded by it. Surviving in our bubbles.

A new week is on the horizon so keep your eyes peeled.

  • Leo Season

The sun is high, the air is warm, and the only safe place is the shade.

Let out a roar, or a nice long sigh.

    It’s Leo season.

  • Clocking In

Printed versions of Clocking In fanned out on some particle board.

After much work, it’s done. Hmmburger has made a zine.

Clocking In is a collection of the works from the past few months. It has been fun working on these stories and this compilation.

Clocking In includes a new hot dog creation and other visual delights from the site as well.

If you want to hold it in your hands, you can buy it in the shop.

  • Behind the Counter

It’s time to have a page dedicated to the Burgerheads that make Hmmburger a reality.

Check out the staff page to learn more about the folk who make Hmmburger a reality.

It ain’t much, but it’s our staff.

Of course, what is a project without a way to consume? Visit the shop to get your hands on some of the goods we’ve made. We mostly have stickers and some prints of digital art.

    Zine incoming!

  • Another Building Appears

If you are keen on details, you will notice the building on the bottom of the home page now has a keyboard. Peculiar.

If you haven’t, here is a picture of the building:

    A building with a keyboard

We hope you enjoy this lovely new building.

In other news, we improved a bunch of little things around the site in preparation for some cool new things. One thing, is the long awaited physical zine, a store to sell some of the goods we’ve made, and an introduction to new collaborators.

We hope you enjoy Hmmburger and choose to be a part of the what we’re making here.

    Be prepared to clock in!

  • June Gloom

As the sun spends more hanging out in the sky, the air begins to drain.

But, the end of June is coming and with it, a new issue of Hmmburger is on its way.

In the meantime, it’s cancer season and we’re not impressed.

    New stories and more coming.

  • Gemini Season

    A story for Gemini season

We are now observing the house of Gemini. Happy Gemini season!

  • The Lunch Rush

a curb with a drink, bag, and a boombox for the perfect lunch break.

A new piece of fiction appears:

The sun cooks me from above and the sidewalk cooks me from below as I walk to get my lunch. The vehicles scream past me in the opposite direction at an arms length. Warm gusts in between the stale warmth of today.

There is this new burger place that opened up and I can’t seem to stop going back to it. It has become that work staple that I feel borderline embarrassed how much I go.

There has been so much work on Hmmburger in the past few weeks and even in the past few days.

We are placing fictional works under the burger category. Why? Because we didn’t like having fiction mixed in with ramblings and updates.

You may have noticed the chicken category. It explains some things about the chicken and staying healthy.

    Have a wonderful week.

  • Pardon the dust

From upon high, a voice was heard.

“None of this is right! Right? Right?”

    The walls began to shake.

    Some new stuff

hmmburger to hmm… - We have renamed the hmmburger section to hmm and it will be the place to learn about this lovely website and what could be potentially going on here.

burger - A 3d rendering of a burger has appeared.

    chicken - Bock! Bock! Bock!

links - Sharing links to other places on the internet worth visiting. Updated sporadically of course, but we have been finding some good new projects. Hypertext.tv is a good example of something we appreciate.

    Some parting thoughts

Running this project has slowly become something I enjoy tinkering with and has started to spin off into a few different directions. I have been having fun and I think that was the main reason for removing the cobwebs off this website and to slowly not care about a grand vision.

It’s allowed me to start writing words to go with my artwork and to make working on a website a bit more fun.

I’ve also thought more about the future of the web and it’s kind of an interesting mess. It’s also strengthened the need for this website to exist.

I will keep building out this corner of the internet and find ways to communicate the absurdity of the state of things. Hopefully creating a place that is a bit of a respite from the madness.

    Have a nice day.

  • Only a sheep is on time.

While observations happen, actions may lapse.

It’s okay to want to feel that fire and not know the action.

    It’s a beginning.

With your drive and focus, you’ll be etched in the sky.

    It’s Aries season.

  • My Pond, My Rules

a duck with the text "my pond, my rules".

When you realize no one is watching, you should realize you get to write the rules.

And remember, “Not my pond, not my problem.”

  • Colorized.

If you are paying attention to things, it’s hard to know what to do.

Write or call your representatives or post colorized pictures of a hot dog eating itself. The choice is yours.

a hot dog eating itself while laying in bed listening to music.

    Sometimes you can do both!

  • Acknowledging Progress

Often times we get hung up on where we should be that we forget where we are and where we have been.

I have been working on an experimental thought management system. A place to keep track of abstract goals, measurable tasks, and floating ideas. A springboard of action and simple reminder or what we are interested in at the moment. A place for thoughts that have announced their arrival or intentions of arrival.

I have finally started to lay the real foundational work on this system which is an abstraction of my physical and digital systems that I have been using to manage my life and to work on my time blindness.

The current state is further along than any previous iteration and it is responding to many of the recent thoughts I have been having around design, development, and creativity. It may not be the most useful state, but it has reminded me, I am making progress.

Sometimes we make progress and it may not be exactly what we want, but it’s progress.

The thing I have been reminding myself is, “I’m further along than I was before and thats better than where I was.”

Keep on truckin’ and keep on dreamin’.

  • gone fishin' 🎣

    🎣

If you are swimming, keep swimming.

If you aren’t swimming, you should probably start swimming.

If you don’t know how to swim, try to swim.

If you really aren’t sure what you are, that’s okay too.

The only thing we can say for sure, it’s Pisces season.

  • Hola Mundo

I want to keep this simple.

The state of the internet isn’t great.

We have a handful of companies controlling a handful of websites. Every company is building their modern day imagining of AOL. Walled gardens powered by greed, algorithms, and misery. Reflecting much of modern America.

We are allowing machines to fill our context with hallucinated slop. Removing thought and dreams from the human condition.

All this to say, if you are going to be online, own your platform as much as you can.

Share in the commons, but build at home and share in your own gallery.

  • A Building Appears

Allow yourself to take some time to enjoy two new additions to the one and only, hmmburger.com.

    Aquarius in View

The observatory now displays the current constellation in observation.

There will be some new additions to the observations that will delight when found.

    Potentially rewarding!

    A Building Appears

A building appears at the bottom of the home page.

A figure stands behind the glass.

You walk up to the window but there is no response.

    From Management

    We are entering strange times.

Take time to breathe and find a method to communicate through.

    Don’t stew.

    Until next time, take care.

  • enhance.

Oh boy, new feautures for the website hmmburger.com??

    You better believe it, amigo.

Some beautiful enhancements anyone can look at and say, “Thank you.”

    The Darkness is Here

“People love dark mode!” said our advisors.

    We listened.

A new dark mode has been added that is both not a total void and keeps the original color feel going.

We are open to suggestions on improving dark mode, feel free to reach out.

    Legibility

We’re doing our best to make the text and content breathe on any device this is viewed on.

This mostly means, the text should feel better on the eyes.

    The Sounds of Space

We have enhanced the observatory experience to now include an audio element.

    This and That

If you are subscribed to the newsletter should know that we plan on sending out a rundown of the week in it instead of every bulletin.

This doesn’t mean there will be more updates, but there will be weeks where a lot happens and weeks where nothing happens.

We don’t fully love newsletters, but our advisors are telling us that people love getting emails.

    Incredible times.

For those interested, the bulletins are syndicated via RSS.

  • Look at the stars!

We have launched our observatory to better understand the mysteries of the universe.

We are currently studying the main signs to see what they mean and how we can navigate the now using their guidance.

It is a time of reflection and action.

  • 🌭 time for a hot dog

Have you a hankering for a hot dog? Guess what? Hmmburger has rolled out an update that will satiate that urge.

    🌭🌭🌭

    You will feel incredible.

    You will feel nourished.

It’s a wonderful time to look at hot dogs.

    🌭🌭🌭

a mspaint drawing of a weener posing sexily.

the sexy weener that started it all, now on display!

    Show me the dogs!

    🌭🌭🌭

Do you have hot dog art? Well maybe you should send it to Hmmburger and maybe it will end up on the hot dog page.
